FROM ALL OF US GUARDIANS,
Thank you for your support
We'll see you next season!
LET'S FIND OUT TOGETHER
The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps has been working diligently to determine the best course of action for continuing our mission: to provide a safe and educational service to our student-members and community. We have determined that a summer program in which we travel outside of Texas is not what is best for our organization. Instead, we have designed a localized and upscale summer program in lieu of traveling to an Indianapolis-based DCI event. We believe that a combination of the following will create a safer and more student-centric experience for Guardians performers and staff during summer activities:
Upgrading our housing facilities. By using university dorms/housing we can ensure proper COVID safety guidelines for our members on and off the field, while increasing overall housing standards, general sanitation, and privacy.
Enforcing a strict health/safety policy that includes testing, local health department/CDC-compliant operations, and isolation from the public.
Collaborating with the drum corps of Texas and/or DCI to create exciting coordinated regional events and unique performance opportunities, along with a high-quality show recording and further virtual performances.
Providing regularly scheduled enrichment activities via speakers, professional-level performers, and clinicians multiple times per week.
Producing a heightened membership experience through non-music education related initiatives and activities.
Building a unique Guardians show with the diverse source material that we are becoming known for.
In a summer when competitive class distinction is absent and safety is more important than ever before, we believe our summer 2021 program diverges from the norm as a positive reinvention of modern drum corps as we know it. All who are interested in participating can now begin the audition process, in agreement with our safety policies and guidelines, by registering at www.guardiansdbc.org/join. For more information on the aforementioned safety policies and in-person camp guidelines, please visit the "Health & Safety" tab. These documents will provide an accurate outlook as to what will be required for summer participation, once finalized by Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, DCI, and our housing hosts.
