DETAILS:

An in-person audition/experience camp for the 2022 Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps.  This camp is for Brass, Percussion, and Drum Majors. 

Important notes about this camp:

  • VACCINATION POLICY: We do not require proof of vaccinations for attendance. Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps does take the official organizational position that research has proven vaccines are effective in keeping both the individual and public safer than they are without it. For this reason, we STRONGLY suggest to all participants and staff that they obtain a full vaccination(and booster if eligible) for not only COVID, but any potential infection that has an available and FDA approved vaccine. Due to an Executive Order by the Governor of Texas, and in an effort to create the least-restrictive environment or access for participation, Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps does not require any participant or staff member to be vaccinated for COVID-19.  
  • Health/Safety Precautions: We do take the ongoing pandemic extremely seriously, especially considering the possibility of group spread, and in special consideration of any family member or people in public spaces our participants may come into contact with. For this reason, Guardians does enforce some safety practices. This includes testing requirements(See next bullet point), regular cleaning of used areas, widely available hand washing or sanitizer stations, spaced out sleeping arrangements, staggered meal breaks, and other safety measures.  Anyone who has not been tested prior to entry in to the facility, MUST WEAR A MASK. There are no exceptions to this mask rule. Once students have tested negative upon arrival, they may wear a mask at their discretion. 
  • Testing Requirement: A negative COVID test is required. If a participant tests positive, we will offer to transfer your payment to the next camp. If spots are no longer available, only then will we issue a refund for your registration.
  1. You can buy a rapid test through Guardians, and we will administer this test at camp. Should you test positive, we will supply you with another test free of charge to double check. Once it is confirmed you are testing positive, we will kindly ask that you leave the premises for the safety of everyone else in attendance. 
  2. You can bring your own rapid test. Should you test positive, you can purchase another test to be sure, or we will kindly ask that you leave the premises for the safety of everyone else in attendance. 
  3. You can obtain a PCR test 48-60 hours prior to camp, and bring the official notification of result to camp. *Warning* If you do not have the results by the beginning of camp, you will be asked to purchase and submit to a rapid test, or refused entry until you have the results available. If you receive a positive result, we ask that you please stay home and email us at student@guardiansdbc.org to notify us of your need to transfer the registration to a later camp.
  • Can I attend for the experience? You can attend for the experience without auditioning.
  • You DO NOT have to be in attendance of the entire camp if you have a school event, indoor contest, or are sick. For late arrival or early departure due to flights and other travel needs, please see travel information below.
  • FLIGHTS/BUSSES: We kindly ask that if you are attempting to fly in for this camp and want to take advantage of our airport shuttle, that you find a flight with an arrival time before 7:00PM on Friday of the camp. We understand if this is not possible, and do not wish for this to be a reason you can not attend at all.  You will be asked to pay a slightly higher shuttle fee to account for the extra trip for our designated driver and vehicle. That includes any flights or busses arriving in Austin later than 7:00PM or on Satuday morning. The same extra fee applies for return flights on Saturday night or Sunday morning before 9:00am. Any flights after 9:00AM are eligible for the lower transportation fee.  
  • What if I have (school function/indoor)?If you can not attend the camp because of a school related function or illness, please notify a caption head. We highly recommend you do your best to attend before or after the event. If you need to leave during the camp to attend an event and wish to return, you will be asked to take another COVID test(free of charge) and requested to wear a mask when around other people. 

Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps does not refund event registrations, with the exception being there are no spots available after the camp and having provided proof of a positive COVID test to an administrator. You can contact Jonathan@guardiansdbc.org with COVID-19 positive reports.

  • Brass Audition

    This ticket is for both first time Brass auditionees and call-backs to attend the in-person audition camp. If you are unable to attend part or all of the camp, you may attend for what you are ABLE to attend. Please just let us know ahead of time with details on your plans and why. Audition materials are available for FREE on our website.

  • Percussion Audition

    This ticket is for both first time Percussion auditionees and call-backs to attend the in-person audition camp. If you are unable to attend part or all of the camp, you may attend for what you are ABLE to attend.   • Drum Major Audition

    This ticket is for all Drum Major auditionees attending the February in-person audition camp. Any materials will be sent out after the first virtual Drum Major audition and clinic has taken place, February 5th.

  • COVID Test

    OPTIONAL PURCHASE - PLEASE READ COVID Testing is required prior to camp attendance. We ask that you get tested via PCR 48-72 hours ahead of the camp start time, or take a rapid test on-site at camp. If you would like to purchase a COVID rapid test, to be administered by on-site staff, you can do so with the purchase of this ticket.

    Purchase this ticket for a ride from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, a bus station, or a train station if your arrival time is on Friday(2/25/22) before 7PM. This fee is used to cover the cost of a driver, vehicle and gas. Please note, this ride is about an hour in length. All riders will be asked to wear a mask when in the vehicle with others. You will be sent a form to fill out with your travel information 2-10 days prior to the camp.
