Will Burson

Trumpet Technician

Will Burson is currently in his first year of teaching as the Assistant Band Director at Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend ISD in Missouri City, TX. His duties at Ridge Point include conducting both the Concert and Symphonic bands, assisting with the Marching Band, and leading the Jazz Band. 

 

Prior to receiving his degree, Will was a Visual and High Brass Technician for Klein Oak High School and Andy DeKaney High School in Houston, TX. Will was a Music Tech for the Bearkat Marching Band at SHSU and also taught private lessons on Trumpet in Willis ISD and at Vogel Intermediate in Conroe ISD. 

 

Will recently graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University. At SHSU, Will studied trumpet under Randy Adams and Steve Warkentin and was a member of the SHSU Wind Ensemble for 3 years straight under the baton of Dr. Matthew McInturf. Will also performed with the SHSU Jazz Ensemble for 1 year, performing in the 2016 TMEA Convention President's Concert alongside Bill Watrous and Allen Vizzuti, under the direction of Aric Schneller. 

 

Prior to joining the Guardians Brass Staff in 2018, Will performed with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017 as the Piccolo Trumpet soloist. Will joined the Brass Staff immediately after aging out with SCV and is beyond excited to be coming back for another year with the Brass Staff.
