(Virtual) Drum Corps Audition-Experience

     The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps are excited to announce the opportunity for prospective drum corps participants to take part in a preparatory day-camp at the end of December.  This camp will include music and visual education clinics, lunch, and a 1:1 mock-audition with a staff member in which the student will get specific constructive feedback on their audition attempt. 

     Along with the in-person event, GDBC has decided to create a virtual audition capability so that those who are not yet comfortable with in-person meetings can still have the opportunity to engage in a full audition process. The virtual audition option comes with tips + examples of material by staff, play-along tracks for practicing, a designated "open office" day, and a 20min. 1:1 Zoom meet with a staff member who will give you personalized feedback on your audition and an explanation on your evaluation. You will receive extra content/information on the day of this "event" and will be expected to turn in a video audition by 1/10/2020 at 8:00 PM. Late submissions are accepted, but will not be eligible for a contract rating, and any 1:1 meetings with a staff member may not be possible(at the discretion of the managing education staff). This virtual "mock-audition" will be based on the exact criterium being utilized for official consideration of 2021 Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps membership. We are being cautious to offer "contracts" to anyone without detailed knowledge of DCI's plans for the 2021 summer, or without a written commitment to an alternative drum corps experience(s) besides that of a "normal" DCI tour. Because of this, should an attendee score what would translate into a contracted membership position we will honor the achievement with a contract immediately after DCI has announced the official 2021 plans, and we are able to provide a written contract as to what our organization will be offering. (Contract eligible overall rating would be a "1". "2" would equate to a call-back, meaning you are close to being contracted but have some specific improvements that are needed. "3" is what we equate to "needing more improvement for consideration".)
